General Policies

1. Equal Opportunity

3. Pupil Lawmaking of Acquit

4. Equipment and Materials Safety

  • Substances and equipment used in creative processes can be hazardous.
  • Enrollment in a class requires students to know, understand, and comply with all condom and equipment utilise policies for each classroom/studio.
  • Spray booths are mandatory for the use of aerosols.

five. Violence Sensation and Prevention

6. Concerns About a Course, an Individual, or an Effect

  • If you have concerns about a course, an individual, or an issue concerning the School of Fine art + Art History + Blueprint, talk with the teacher in charge of the grade equally shortly as possible.
  • If this is not possible or productive, make an appointment with the Director of Bookish Advising, Art 104, 206-543-0646, or the Manager of the School, Art 102, 206-685-2442.

7. Inability Accommodation

  • To request academic accommodations due to a disability, please contact Student Disability Services, Schmitz 448, 206-543-8924 (Five/TTY) or uwdss@uw.edu.
  • Your instructor will receive an e-mail outlining your academic accommodations prior to the first day of class. Information technology is a good idea to discuss these accommodations straight with your teacher to ensure that your instructor can assistance y'all with your needs.

8. Grade Participation

  • Beginning mean solar day attendance policy: Instructors assume that, if you are not present for roll call on the start 24-hour interval of a studio art form, you lot have decided not to remain enrolled. If you miss the commencement twenty-four hour period without permission, it is your responsibility to drop the grade. You may contact the teacher in accelerate and ask for permission to be absent on the first day.
  • Participation is essential to learning and success in all classes. Absences from grade prevent participation and may negatively affect grades. If you miss grade due to illness or emergency, notify your teacher, provide documentation, and ready a timeline to complete missed assignments and exams.

9. Examination Schedule

  • Students are required to turn in assignments and take exams based on the timeline provided in the grade syllabus.
  • Final exams are scheduled by the University and cannot be changed. Do not brand plans that will preclude you from attending your final exam(south).

10. Plagiarism

  • Plagiarism is using the creations, ideas, words, inventions, or images of someone else in your ain work without formal acknowledgement or permission. This applies to written papers and enquiry as well as to fine art, design, and architectural images.
  • Please check with your instructor if you lot take questions about what constitutes plagiarism.
  • Instances of plagiarism will be referred for disciplinary action to the UW Vice Provost for Academic and Student Affairs.

  • The School regularly displays student fine art and pattern in a diversity of ways to highlight the quality of our students and their learning.
  • This is traditional among all fine art schools and we assume that by participating in UW School classes and activities students accept no objection.

12. Incomplete Grades

  • To request an "incomplete" course a student must have:
    • been in attendance and done satisfactory work through the eighth week of the quarter.
    • provided satisfactory proof for the instructor that the piece of work cannot exist completed considering of affliction or other circumstances beyond their control.

13. Form Appeal Procedure

  • If you call back the grade you received is incorrect, contact the teacher to talk over your concern.
  • If non resolved, make an appointment with the Director of Bookish Advising, Art 104, 543-0646.

fourteen. Materials Fees

  • All art, design, and fine art history classes have materials fees billed with tuition.
  • Fee amounts and justifications are listed past class in the quarterly UW Time Schedule.
  • These fees cover the purchase of materials, academic back up, and equipment provided for students in each class.

15. Service Animals

  • The University has a general "no pets" policy in all of its buildings. However, service animals are allowed to accompany their handlers while on campus.
  • Read more nigh policies regarding service and emotional support animals on the UW Disability Resources for Students website.

16. Lockers

  • The School provides lockers and locks to enrolled students. Cost is $12 per quarter.
  • Students tin rent a locker from the Art Administration Role, Art 102. The role accepts cash, check, Husky Card, credit and debit cards (no Discover Card or American Express).
  • Obey all rules and guidelines printed on the Locker Assignment canvass issued. Failure to do so will prohibit future locker privileges.
  • Students must clean out or renew their locker before the last twenty-four hour period of finals week each quarter. If lockers are not renewed before the last 24-hour interval of finals, the lock will be changed and items discarded.
  • The School is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen property stored in lockers.

17. Art Edifice Exhibition Policies

  • Instructors and students must receive administrative approval at least ii weeks in advance to install work in the Art Building.
  • Read these policies and consummate the included application form.
  • Email the completed class to Ruth Kazmerzak, Administrative Services Coordinator, or drop information technology with them in room 102. It will be reviewed/approved by Administrator Pam Lynne.

18. Later-Hours Access

  • The Art Edifice's open up hours are 8am to 6:20pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Students enrolled in studio classes and accustomed School undergraduate majors and graduate students may have their Husky Cards programmed to access the Art Edifice after hours.
  • After-hours access is permitted only through the loading dock door nearly the west corner of the building, shut to the Jacob Lawrence Gallery. Swipe your pre-programmed Husky Card at the terminal for entry. All other doors are alarmed.
  • Students may asking after-hours access to the Fine art Building for course-related piece of work by filling out this class.Note:  Y'all will need to have your UW G Suite (Google apps) activated in order to access the online Google form. For instructions on how to activate your UW Thou Suite, visit theIT Connect Assist folio.
  • Anyone in the building afterward hours is responsible for the rubber and security of the building. Anyone who allows an unauthorized person into the building or a workspace, props open a door for any reason, or fails to adhere to their studio-specific safety policies risks losing after-hours admission to the building.
  • Accustomed majors and graduate students only need to apply for access once a year for Autumn-Winter-Bound access. Non-majors enrolled in studio classes volition but be immune quarter access, and, in one case the quarter is over, their access will expire. The School will reset access for every major at the beginning of summer quarter.
  • The UW Police Department frequently monitors the Art Building after hours to insure your safe and security.
  • If you are having admission problems, visit Art 102 for aid.

19. Religious Accommodation

  • Washington state law requires that UW develop a policy for accommodation of pupil absences or significant hardship due to reasons of organized religion or conscience, or for organized religious activities.

  • Accommodations must be requested inside the first ii weeks of this course using theReligious Accommodations Request form.
